Partners in Excellence:  Innovation Network Begins a 3-Year Capacity Building Project for Local Grantees

by Johanna Gladfelter

At the heart of everything Innovation Network does is the desire to improve nonprofit results by developing the assessment skills of nonprofit staff.  While all projects involve some degree of evaluation capacity building, a limited number of projects allow Innovation Network to exclusively focus on improving nonprofit evaluation capacity over an extended period of time.

For that reason, Innovation Network is pleased to announce a new partnership with Capital One as part of its Partners in Excellence program to build the capacity of 12 grantees based in the Washington, D.C. region to conduct evaluations and to use evaluation results.  This is the first year of a three-year engagement.

Under the project, participating Capital One grantees will be divided into two groups, depending on their evaluation needs.  One group will focus largely on improving existing evaluation techniques, data collection efforts, and reporting capabilities. The second group will focus on using evaluation for organizational strategy and planning.

During the course of the project, Innovation Network staff will work with Capital One grantees through individual in-person consultations, a bank of additional consulting hours, and peer learning opportunities with other participating grantee organizations.
