Advocacy Evaluation Update (Issue #1, June 2007) The inaugural issue of Innovation Network's Advocacy Evaluation Update includes the following:

Advocacy Evaluation Update (Issue #7, October 2009) The seventh issue of Advocacy Evaluation Update (AEU) newsletter was the first produced as part of the strategic partnership between Innovation Network and the Center for Evaluation Innovation. It was also the first edited by Julia Coffman, an experienced evaluator and the Center's Director.

Can we obtain the required rigour without randomisation? Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) operating in the international development sector need credible, reliable feedback on whether their interventions are making a meaningful difference but they struggle with how they can practically access it. Impact evaluation is research and, like all credible research, it takes time, resources, and expertise to do well, and – despite being under increasing pressure – most NGOs are not set up to rigorously evaluate the bulk of their work.

Global Program Advocacy Grants: What Do They Tell Us About Evaluating Advocacy? Oxfam America (OA) funds a number of grants that explicitly aim to carry out advocacy work. Looking at thirty grant proposals (ten each from Southern Africa, Southeast Asia, and Central and South America), the author explores the variety of advocacy targets, tactics, expected outcomes, and proposed monitoring and evaluation methodologies.
